Before tubal anastomosis, a brief fertility evaluation is performed to ensure that ovulation is
occurring on a regular basis and that there are no other causes of infertility. If no other signs
can be identified, tubal anastomosis may be the best option for having another baby. If other
disorders are identified, in vitro fertilization provides often the best pregnancy rates.
Tubal anastomosis is a surgical procedure that lasts approximately 2 hours. At the Cape Fertility Clinic
Tubal anastomosis is done by Laparoscopy. The blocked portion of the fallopian tube is removed and
sutured with microsutures. This type of microsurgery is very delicate and must be performed by a
reproductive surgeon with advanced training in laparoscopical surgery and microsurgery.
In appropriate selected cases tubal anastomosis can give high pregnancy rates.
